This year I got to participate in the nationwide Steviva Holiday Keto Blogger Recipe Challenge where the first 100 qualified food bloggers who applied got to participate. Steviva for those of you don’t know is a brand that makes alternative natural sweeteners to sugar in different forms like liquid, powder, and granulated. All of their products are safe for diabetics, keto, paleo, and LCHF dieters and contain low glycemic and calories. The Recipe Challenge consisted of three categories: Beverage, Entree, & Dessert in which bloggers got to pick the category(s) that they want to create their own original recipe in and incorporate the Steviva products in it. For my recipe, I choose to do a very simple but delicious Beverage recipe that incorporates one of my favorite fruits of all time, Guava!
Since I am a Miami native and South Florida is typically sunshine and heat all year round even during the Winter time I wanted to create a drink that is refreshing, delicious, and that goes perfectly with where I live so that’s why I decided to create a Frozen Guava Berry Margarita. The great thing about the recipe is that it is very simple to make and you can even make it without the alcohol and it still tastes great and almost like a smoothie! However, since it is the Holiday season I decided to make mines with alcohol since I am a huge fan of Margaritas and to make it more of a festive and fun drink. Also, I went ahead and added some spiced rum to my recipe even though its not a regularly used ingredient in Margaritas just to give the drink a little bit of a kick to it. So overall I thought that the rum together with the Guava gave the drink a unique flavor and twist to it.
And below is the recipe that I created:
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup of ice
- 1/2 cup frozen fruit (Mixed Berries)
- 2/3 cup frozen Guava
- 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/4 cup Ketose Sweet Liquid (Used as an alternative to Simple Syrup)
- 2 1/2 ounces of Tequila
- 1 ounce of Triple Sec
- 1 ounce of Spiced Rum (Optional)
- Lime wedge and Steviva Blend for rim of glass
- Splash of water
Instructions:
1.) Add ice, frozen fruits, lime juice, sweet liquid, tequila, spiced rum, and triple sec to a blender.
2.) Blend for about 1 minute or until all ingredients are fully mixed and there are no fruit chunks remaining.
3.) Add some of the Steviva Blend to a small bowl and lime juice to another bowl (I used one lime)
4.) Dip the glass into the lime juice first and then into the Steviva Blend to get a sugar rim.
5.) Pour into your favorite margarita or cocktail glass and Enjoy!
