A few weeks back I had mentioned in my previous blog post that I came to learn about Elaine Rau who is the founder of LadyBossBlogger

If you didn’t get the chance to read my last blog post you can check it out here

Just to give a little recap for those of you who are not familiar with LadyBossBlogger, it is an educational blog and platform created for bloggers and influencers alike who want to take their blog and/or social media influence to another level.

Through LadyBossBlogger, you have the option to choose from three different courses that will each give you a step-by-step guide to growing and monetizing your business so that you can turn that passion into a reality.

I personally decided to go ahead and invest my time into the Making Money Blogging Course which I have been taking for the past month now and I wanted to share a couple of things that I have learned so far that have really stood out to me and have been helping me.

Finding My Niche

As I began digging deeper into the course one of the first topics that I came across was about finding and choosing your niche.

I came to learn about the twelve most profitable niches which are:

  • Fitness & Weight Loss
  • Health
  • Dating & Relationships
  • Pets
  • Self-Improvement
  • Making Money Online
  • Beauty
  • Gadgets & Tech
  • Parenting
  • Fashion
  • Travel
  • And lifestyle

What I found really helpful about this was that Elaine gave examples of which types of products to promote, what type of blog posts/titles to write, what are the sub-niches for each niche and actual examples of brands that you can work with in each category!

Although I’ve always known that my brand, The Cultured Local, falls under the Lifestyle Niche category, I felt that I needed to have a better understanding of what type of products I can actually promote and some examples of brands that I could potentially partner up with in the future.

In Addition to that, I came to the realization that collaborating with other influencers in the same niche as I is not only very essential to growing my business but it should also be one of my focuses and priorities. A few things that Elaine Rau shared on this topic of finding your niche that really stood out to me was:

Learn from the influencers in your niche by checking out what they are doing, note what you think they do well, also note what they could be doing better and perhaps how you can fill that void

When doing your research, DO NOT think about how far along they are and you’ll never get there, think about HOW YOU CAN HELP THEM

Think of creative ways you can get to know the influencers of your niche better and help them achieve their goals. It may seem counter intuitive, but trust me, you’re setting yourself up for the long run. In the end, it’s all about building relationships

Blogging is best done collaboratively

I loved all of these tips because it made me realize that I should focus more on collaborating which is something that I wasn’t doing so before.

Targeting and Satisfying Your Audience

Another topic that I found really helpful was that of how to create your target audience. In this section of the course I came to learn how to create a target audience persona and ideal client and the 10 questions to ask yourself that will help you define your target audience.

A couple of takeaways that I got from this section were:

If you want your business to be really profitable, your target audience must be willing and able to buy what you sell

You have to ensure that there is a market for what you want to offer and know what problems your audience are seeking answers and guidance to

You’re not here to reinvent the wheel, you’re here to fix a part of the wheel

No one else has your unique perspective, your abilities, and your drive. If you truly try your best and give it your all you’ll make it

I think one of the challenges for me has always been not knowing how exactly to identify my target audience or know what type of product is needed that I can help bring to the table that my audience is in need or in want of.

Through the 10 questions and examples given in this section of the course I have been able to gain some knowledge and insight of what to look for in my audience and what things I have to keep in mind to best reach them.

One of the things that Elaine also pointed out was about that there are four different types of learners: Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, and Kinesthetic. This made me realize that I need to consider and be more open to reaching my audience not just through my blog and/or social media but through other means as well.

While these two topics are not so technical or complex as the other topics to come later on in the course, I do feel like this information serves as the foundation needed to build one’s blog.

Without knowing your target audience or niche it will be very difficult to grow and become profitable because you won’t know what needs/wants to cater to your audience. I’m so glad that I was able to get a better understanding of how to define my target audience through the information and questions shared in this section.

Aside from Finding Your Niche and How To Create Your Target Audience, I covered two other sections briefly: How To Claim Your Blog Domain Name and Design Your Brand. Since I already have my domain hosting package and website setup along with my brand logo design I jumped right into the next section.

As of now I am currently learning How To Set Up An Email Marketing Strategy which I am super excited about because I have been wanting to learn how to build my email list and create things like newsletters for the longest time now and then I’ll be diving deeper and learning about the Social Media Foundations which are part of Blog Marketing Strategy.

Although I am not halfway through the course yet and still have so much information to cover (since blogging is so complex and it demands a lot of time and effort put into it) I honestly feel like I have gotten so much from taking this course so far and it’s only the beginning.

I highly recommend this course to anyone who is either looking to start a blog and doesn’t know where to start or to anyone who already has a blog that is open to learning new skills in order to take their blog to the next level and earn a steady income from it.

One of the things that I’ve noticed since I started taking this course is that I have been receiving more collaboration and sponsorship opportunities so for that reason I am super excited and can’t wait to see what lies ahead once I start applying everything else that I learn throughout the course!
