Exactly a month ago today we hosted our baby shower for our second baby to come, Alice. The theme that I went with for this shower was, “A Baby is Brewing” tea theme because I love teacups and all things vintage. Plus, I thought it was a really cute and unique idea for a baby shower. My best friend kindly hosted us in her home since she has a huge backyard and we had invited all of our family and several friends so there were close to fifty people in attendance. For the decor I used a few things that I already owned in my home such as vases, a few plates, frames, etc. and what I ended up buying were the balloons, banners, cake topper/decorations, and tableware (plastic cups, plates, napkins, utensils, etc.).
Since I collect teacups and tea pots from thrift stores i actually went ahead and used a lot of the same ones from my wedding day for the baby shower. I used them to decorate the cake and gift table but also placed some in the dining room and buffet station area where the food was. For the food we had pastelitos from Vicky Bakery along with egg salad and turkey cucumber tea sandwiches made by my best friend and arroz imperial with platanos maduros from El Palacio de Los Jugos.
Our simple yet beautiful cake was from Publix and it was a vanilla and chocolate cake with buttercream frosting that was so moist and decadent. The cake topper that we got was customized and from Etsy and the edible flowers that we used to decorate it were from Amazon. Aside from the cake, we had the prettiest sugar cookies made by Nanna Gayle Cookies that fit our theme so perfectly and that were made as favors for our guests. There were about seven different cookie designs and everyone was super impressed with them and how good they tasted! They were definitely a huge hit and almost too pretty to eat!
For the kids we had some bubbles as the party favors and beach toys so they can play with in the backyard since it’s summertime and they all really enjoyed it especially the soon to be big sister Lily, our daughter. Overall, our baby shower was very special and memorable, and we are so happy that most of the people that we had invited were able to come and celebrate another important moment of our lives with us. My husband and I not only got to catch up with some friends and family but we also got to take plenty of pictures that day. We are definitely very excited that our second daughter Alice will be here very soon (within the next 2-3 weeks!) and can’t wait to meet her!
** A special thank you to everyone who came to our baby shower and showed unconditional love and support for our little Alice we truly appreciate you! 🙂 **
