During Thanksgiving week I had the incredible opportunity of test driving the new 2019 Chevy Traverse SUV Crossover for an entire week as courtesy of Chevrolet. Since I was going to have the car for an entire week I took full advantage of the opportunity given to me and I drove it everywhere even to run personal errands and attend some local events. It was on one of those days that I decided to take the car for a little mini road trip down south to the Redlands or Homestead as many people know it best where I got the chance to visit a local farm called Burr’s Berry Farm.
The ride from my house to the farm was about 30-40 minutes and was super smooth and the drive there actually felt like a shorter amount of time. When I arrived at the farm the first thing that I did was purchase a Pumpkin Spice Milkshake since the farm is mainly known for their amazing milkshakes. I never had a Pumpkin Spice Milkshake before so this one definitely blew my mind because it was so good!!! While sipping on my milkshake I hung out by the car until I had finished it all and then I headed inside the farm to do some fun Fall activities!
The first thing I did at the farm was go inside a Corn Maze because I always get some cool shots in the process and because they are always super fun. After finding my way out of the Corn Maze I went for a tractor ride around the farm that was a super short but fun because of the bumpy road. Lastly, I stopped by the Pumpkin Patch area that was filled with hundreds of Pumpkins to take some Fall inspired photos as well and to find a pumpkin to take home with me.
After leaving Burr’s Berry Farm I took a drive in the Chevy Traverse around the area in search for unpaved roads and a Sunflower field that I heard was nearby simply for the purpose of exploring the area. While I didn’t find the Sunflower field like I originally wanted to I did enjoy the ride and driving all around Homestead in this beautifully designed car.
Some of the features that I noticed about the car and absolutely loved about the 2019 Chevy Traverse SUV Crossover were:
Smart key – This is so convenient because there is no need to put the key in the ignition in order to start the car. Instead, all you need to do is press the start button while having your foot on the brake to power on the vehicle making it easier and faster to get going on the road.
AutoStop Feature – A lot of times people become distracted looking down at their phones especially at a red light that they can easily loose focus and not realize that their car is slowly moving forward. They don’t have a strong foothold on the brake and that could potentially lead to a accident so this is a great safety feature because the vehicle will automatically shut down when it senses a stop. Moreover, it helps preserve fuel since cars tend to waste more gas when at a complete stop.
Surround Vision – What is really neat and unique about this feature is that you not only have the standard rear vision camera display showing everything around you while backing up but you also get a Satellite or virtual Birdˈs eye view from the top of your car making it even easier to back up and park. The vehicle comes with four cameras the standard rear vision camera, a forward-looking camera in the front grille, and one under each side mirror of the vehicle. Other cool features include forward collision alert which monitors and detects if you are too close to the vehicle in front of you to avoid a potential crash as well as front pedestrian braking and low speed forward automatic braking.
SiriusXM Radio – Probably one of my favorite features besides the Surround Vision is the SiriusXM Radio that comes inside the Chevy Traverse. Besides the regular radio stations you also get NASCAR Radio, Radio Classics, Spa, Escape, and Hallmark Radio to name a few. What sold me and made me fall in love with the car was definitely the Hallmark Radio Station that was playing classic Christmas music all day long everyday of the week! I also loved that the car had a Spa and Escape radio station because it helps create a very soothing and relaxing space especially when stuck in traffic or on road trips.
Car Play – One can never go wrong with Car Play because it just makes everything easier and smoother and this vehicle comes with available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi and is compatible with both Apple and Android phones. That means everything from the GPS Navigation being displayed on the screen to Voice Recognition for hands free calling to being able to download a movie in the backseat and even Siri assisting in reading text messages out loud are all built in making it an extremely efficient feature.
OnStar Button – With the simple press of a button this cool feature can tell you what restaurants are nearby and can even connect you to the car agency. Plus, if you need roadside assistance or have an emergency it connects you to the appropriate person and it even sends out a automatic response signal when there’s a crash which is super handy and convenient!
Spacious Seating Capacity – Besides the Physical Appearance of the car what really caught my eye and surprised me the most was how big and spacious the car was! I counted seating for six passengers but it can actually fit up to 8 passengers which I thought is very impressive! Even the trunk area is super spacious to store luggage and other personal items. And if that isn’t enough there is even a concealed underfloor rear storage compartment to keep your belongings hidden! Plus, to open and close the trunk you just press one button it’s that simple!
Traction Mode Select – One of the most important safety features that is part of the Chevy Traverse is Traction Mode Select which includes FWD, 4×4 Snow, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul. What this means is that you can adjust your vehicle’s performance when driving through rough road and weather conditions with the simple turn of a small knob button. Another great thing about the Traverse is that it offers a 3.6L V6 engine with available towing capability up to 5,000 lbs, a 9-speed automatic transmission, a 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder engine, and fuel economy.
My honest thoughts about the vehicle was that it was very well crafted and designed and I found its incredible features to not only be efficient but convenient as well, especially the Surround Vision feature which made it easier for me to park in tight spots. I found the physical appearance of the car to be very stunning and eye catching especially because of its beautiful and bright Cajun Red Tint Coat along with its all-black rims which gave the car a more sporty look. I loved everything from the simple details of the gold Chevrolet logo embellished on the steering wheel to the black leather seats which were super comfortable! And performance wise I can’t say that I have any complaints because driving the car all over South Florida felt very smooth and effortless the whole time through. Overall, I was really happy and satisfied with the car and I feel like it would be the perfect car to own if you have a big family because of the amount of space that is has along with its beneficial safety features.
